Objectives:
To be a liaison between the chairs of the technical committees of the Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society and the IEEE-SA Standards Board. To develop relevant standards and help build a basis in industry for development, commerce, and continuity of products.
Past Achievements:
Examples of standards developed under the aegis of the technical committees with the DEIS are:
• IEEE guide for Fire Hazard Assessment of Electrical Insulating Materials
• IEEE Guidelines for Designing Multi-Stress Ageing of Electrical Insulation
in a Radiation Environment
• IEEE Recommended Practice for Voltage Endurance Testing of Form-Wound
Coils and Bars
Current and Future Activities:
IEEE Std 1523-2002 "Guide for Application, Maintenance, and Evaluation of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) Silicone Rubber Coatings for Outdoor Ceramic Insulators" has been published.
Balloting of P930 revision of "Guide for the Statistical Analysis of Electrical Insulation Breakdown Data" just been completed. The final comments received during the balloting were passed along to the Secretary/Chair of the committee on June 24, 2003. Resolution to the issues raised are awaited from the Chair/Secretary of the Statistics Committee.
Work is underway to commence a reaffirmation ballot on the IEEE Std 101-1987 "Guide for the Statistical Analysis of Thermal Life Test Data".
A complete listing is available at http://standards.ieee.org/catalog/olis/pdi.html
Meetings:
No scheduled meetings are planned but general attendance and reporting occurs once a year at the DEIS AdCom meeting. Most of the communications occur by correspondence.
